Witsprouts Presents Mental Notes: A Commemoration of Global Mental Health Awareness Month

Witsprouts Books is set to launch its latest anthology, “Love Grows Stronger in Death,” at an event commemorating Global Mental Health Awareness Month on May 24, 2024. The anthology, curated by Tope Akintayo, features the work of 15 emerging writers exploring themes of love, loss, and resilience.

The event, titled “Mental Notes,” will take place at Roving Heights Bookstore in Victoria Island, Lagos, starting at 12 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear featured authors read excerpts from their stories. Among the authors are Obinna Inogbo, Mustapha Enesi, Chinonso Nzeh, and Enit’ayanfe Ayosojumi Akinsanya. These authors will read from their stories which resonate with raw emotion, capturing the deep realities of personal loss and unwavering affection.

A panel discussion on “Mental Health Care in the Face of Personal Loss” will also be part of the event. The panel, moderated by Mayowa Fagbure, will include Oluwatomilayo Awodoyin, a lead clinical psychologist at Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative, Chinonso Nzeh, and Mustapha Enesi, who will share thoughts on coping mechanisms and resilience in the face of loss.
